Happy New Year! Kenny's week 30

Image
Merry late Christmas everyone! This week was wild, from being in the house all day during Christmas, to singing in the Christmas Zone Conference, it was a blast all around.    - Our district leader decide he WANTED to be Santa Clause, so he put on some shaving cream and had some fun there haha   - We got to eat dinner with the Rolon family, they’re extremely nice and have very little, but still WANTED us to come eat with them for the "Navidad!"    - We were gifted these epic Missionary nametags made of wood from our mission President, they’re ornaments we can put on our trees after mission haha   - I got to sing the song Joseph from "The Forgotten Carols," a traditional Christmas song in our family... The Missionary who accompanied me on the piano had actually seen the show live (and is also was a piano prodigy from Chile), so we went all out with the number. Hope you liked it momma :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANzqKY7hQyM&feature=youtu.be   ...

Merry Christmas from Elder Kenny Chalk! Week 29 in Argentina

Buen día todos! We’re still going strong out here-  Christmas and New years are this week. If y'all remember from the other email, we have certain rules on what times we have to be in the house and what times we can go out, so we'll be attentive to those, since the people really do get crazy on the holidays haha - There's this stray dog (we named him Scooter since he likes to scoot across the grass here) and he's been following us literally everywhere the past 4 days. Whenever he sees us, he just starts waggin his tail like crazy and doesn’t leave our side. It’s kinda creepy, honestly. We’ll be having a lesson with some friends, and a good half hour later he's still just there on the grass outside, staring at the door, waiting for us. He’s a good man. If you ever end up reading this Scooter, you're an A+ amigo :)  - Walked with our friend to church last Sunday, a solid half hour to the church and we almost missed the meeting... But we made it in time, no sweat...

Elder Kenny Chalk’s Week 28: Baby pizzas, new pans and downpours!

Buen día y’all! Hope life is running smoothly on y’alls end! Let’s just jump right in...  - We found out our Christmas plans! We’ll have a morning Zone Conference and they asked me to sing a solo— I’ll record it for you mama! Then we have to be in by  4pm … we can chat with family for an hour, then we have to stay in the rest of that night and the next day! Apparently it’s to keep us safe and respect people’s family time. - OK the weather here has officialy lost it’s marbles... We were walking down the road, there were a few clouds just chillin in the sky and we started to hear thunder... We were of course super confused, but kept walking... Then the sky just decides to darken by 2.6 million percent and downpour on us... https://youtube.com/shorts/HE5OrqgC2Ks?si=toPkuEf2UeY-30-9 We ended up jogging for cover for a second, but on the way a random family invited us inside to take cover for bit haha! Had a fun time with all them, and of course some 10 minutes later the sun...

Kenny’s Week 27: I dragged a dead pig 🐖

Yippeeeee six months out!  That’s wild, feels like I just got here. But hey, quite the experience nonetheless! Had some interesting moments this week, might have thought I was going to die at one point... I’m ok mama… - Helped one of the members here on their farm again... his pig had died somehow before we got to the farm, so we went through a ridiculous struggle just dragging it out of the "campo." It blew my mind how BIG that one pile of flour was... Y'all can see what I mean in the video! - Had an epic zone conference, focusing on the importance of the Book of Mormon: another set of scriptures comparable to the Bible specific to the LDS faith. It contains "the plentitude of the Gospel of Jesus Christ," I highly encourage all who haven’t given it a read to do so! - There was this cool table that was set up like the symbol from the Incredibles, of course had to snap a Pictures with that haha - Stopped by the workshop here a few times to talk with some of our a...

Chef Kenny Chalk! Week 26

Como andan chicos! I don’t really know where to start the email haha. Everytime I write one of these emails, I feel like I just did it five minutes ago for the one from last week… So weird.   We’re going strong, and the weather is the opposite of what you’d expect, and for me who lives here it’s still strange! We’re in Summer right now, but yesterday I almost put on a jacket and in 2 days it’ll be 93 degrees or something like that :)  - Our friend who’s a chef invited us again to make pizzas, and we got the whole outfit shebang... Those pizzas were amazing as well, of course - Food is still the highlight here, sadly we didn't do anything for Thanksgiving, I think I ate this cool cookie, good times (haha)  - Great service project with Nicanor, we finished cleaning out his workshop and this week; we’re going to start digging a really friggin’ big hole to put a pool in his backyard - One of the hermanas put in her mission papers and is called to serve in Buenas Aires Sur (so...
