Chef Kenny Chalk! Week 26

Como andan chicos! I don’t really know where to start the email haha. Everytime I write one of these emails, I feel like I just did it five minutes ago for the one from last week… So weird.

We’re going strong, and the weather is the opposite of what you’d expect, and for me who lives here it’s still strange! We’re in Summer right now, but yesterday I almost put on a jacket and in 2 days it’ll be 93 degrees or something like that :)

- Our friend who’s a chef invited us again to make pizzas, and we got the whole outfit shebang... Those pizzas were amazing as well, of course

- Food is still the highlight here, sadly we didn't do anything for Thanksgiving, I think I ate this cool cookie, good times (haha)

- Great service project with Nicanor, we finished cleaning out his workshop and this week; we’re going to start digging a really friggin’ big hole to put a pool in his backyard

- One of the hermanas put in her mission papers and is called to serve in Buenas Aires Sur (south) mission, so we got to hop on a video call and watch her open the letter, it was super exciting! That family is epiiiic

- First thing I’m buying when I get home is a rice cooker… they don’t have those here!

- Visiting a farm and helping feed pigs:

We’re going at it every day— keep sending prayers our way if you’ve got a moment, every bit helps!

~ Kenny

PS. Thanks Mom and Dad for the early Christmas present keyboard!

Aunt Breanna’s comment in reply:

I was watching the video of Kenny feeding pigs and thinking "this is so surreal. We've spent the last 18 years keeping our boys safe, healthy, and sheltered from the hard souls of the world.  Then we gladly send them off to 3rd world countries rejoicing all the while."

I'm not surprised they go without batting an eye (most 18 year old boys think themselves invincible). What's amazing is the mother's ability to commend them to God; trusting the Good Shepherd to direct their paths and gather them safely home.

Pretty deep thoughts from watching pigs🐷
