Kenny‘s week 52: returning the favor to the Lord!


Here we are again! The transfer is coming to an end here in a few weeks, and I'm getting all the details ready for when people start traveling haha

- This past week was very much focused on finding new people who'd have interést in the Gospel, it was a bit tough but had some great moments. We've been trying to get our recent converts to have strong relationships with our active ward members, so we go walk together with these member familias and visit friends and other converts, it's all pretty cool!

- Office craziness! We lost Internet and all just suffered for a day trying to get contracts made and payments done... It was a BATTLE but we were victorious (I reference the picture of me dead on the ground)

- Pancake Pday! I've mastered making Pancakes on anything other than a skillet... It's so weird but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do haha

- Came across this whack store with American snacks and everything. Saw Doctor Pepper for the first time... I would have gotten you one Momma but you weren't there haha (plus they're like 10 dollars each since they're imported)

- The members are such BIG supporters of what we do, it's very heartwarming. With that in mind, we do quite a bit to return the favor in the work of the Lord!

- The ward was having an activity which ended up being canceled, but the local missionaries had a feeling to go there to the church, and then they were able to teach the youth that were gathered… God's miracles!

  Buen día todos! We’re still going strong out here-  Christmas and New years are this week. If y'all remember from the other email, we have certain rules on what times we have to be in the house and what times we can go out, so we'll be attentive to those, since the people really do get crazy on the holidays haha - There's this stray dog (we named him Scooter since he likes to scoot across the grass here) and he's been following us literally everywhere the past 4 days. Whenever he sees us, he just starts waggin his tail like crazy and doesn’t leave our side. It’s kinda creepy, honestly. We’ll be having a lesson with some friends, and a good half hour later he's still just there on the grass outside, staring at the door, waiting for us. He’s a good man. If you ever end up reading this Scooter, you're an A+ amigo :)  - Walked with our friend to church last Sunday, a solid half hour to the church and we almost missed the meeting... But we made it in time, no sweat...

Elder Kenny Chalk’s 9 month mark! Week 39

  Me again! We had a great zone conference, and interviews with the President are coming up on Wednesday – should be amazing! Also, had variety of interesting experiences this week. - The Zone Conference was phenomenal. There was a big emphasis on what we as missionaries can do to consecrate ourselves to the Lord even before teaching or finding people. It was really thought-provoking. - We talked with a returned missionary who was going through some major personal trials and helped him arrange some things to get his life back on track. He played an epic rendition of the hymn "If You Could Hie to Kolob" – it was beautiful. - I went on divisions (splits) with Zone Leader Elder Eldridge. We ended up walking pretty much the entire night, but we ate bananas at the end, so it was worth it!    - I got a package from my family this week with some things from the States that I've really missed – Pringles, gum, clip-on tie (in honor of my Grandpa Stephen who served here) and things...

First letter from Argentina! 7/22/24

  Hola! Quite a bit happened in the past 7 days, I'll keep it quick haha! First and foremost, MTC is done, and I’m glad to be in the field! Good times all round, excepto for getting here... first a 9 hour Flight to Buenos Aires, with  a 4am  wake up, then once we got there, the leaders go "you got the same thing tonight!" I was so done haha! But yeah, got up  at 4am  again, and I still haven’t caught up on my sleep schedule! It was fun to meet President Walton! Such a nice man. He read my introduction paperwork and said- “I see you are a black belt, that’s good because this is a working mission!” 🙌 I also told him I won’t be a troublemaker.😂 Mom I’ll give him the Texas pasta noodles when I see him next week😂 I did meet up with my trainer, Élder Monson (not related to Thomas S.) and he's been showing me the ropes... He is amazing! We get along really well. He’s been out a year and 9 months, so only 3 months left to go… I will likely be his last companion befor...
