11 months in Argentina… and my brother got married! (Kenny Week 48)

 


Hey guys! I definitely wrote and sent an email last week, but something must have happened since I was sent some message that nothing came through... So ill give a recap of the last two weeks in this one haha

- My brother Stephen and his wife Tanya got married and sealed in the temple and I got a cool little cameo at the temple! Props to them :)

- Were doing a lot of splits and moving a lot of urgency, since we get just about 4.5hs of proselyting time on average now... Being in the office is talking a bit of our time as we’re prepping for the transfers and I get to do all the individual plans for all 170 missionaries here next week haha

- We did a little aquarium visit last week, got to see a bunch of cool little fish and get some cool pictures out by the lake here!

- One of the friends of a companionship in our District is a metal forger, so he made a batarang for them... We definitely got some fun flicks with that haha

- We’re going to be having quite a few Baptisms of our friends here soon! Stay tuned for pictures!

Feliz cumpleaños mamá! Te quiero con todo mi corazón. Gracias por todo lo que me has hecho, al estar a mi lado durante cada momento de aprendizaje, mi Eagle Scout, Black Belt, todo lo que sea jaja. Veo tanto a las personas donde me encuentro, y no puedo comprender las circunstancias en las cuales viven. Ojalá que ellos pudieron tener aún 1 porcentaje de tu amor que tiene para su familia.
Te amo muchísimo, y espero que tenga una feliz Cumpleaños! Nos estamos viendo pronto en la llamada 😁

Happy birthday, Mom! I love you with all my heart. Thank you for everything you've done for me, being by my side during every learning moment, my Eagle Scout, Black Belt, everything haha. I see so many people where I am, and I can't understand the circumstances they live in. I wish they could have even a fraction of the love you have for your family.

  Buen día todos! We’re still going strong out here-  Christmas and New years are this week. If y'all remember from the other email, we have certain rules on what times we have to be in the house and what times we can go out, so we'll be attentive to those, since the people really do get crazy on the holidays haha - There's this stray dog (we named him Scooter since he likes to scoot across the grass here) and he's been following us literally everywhere the past 4 days. Whenever he sees us, he just starts waggin his tail like crazy and doesn’t leave our side. It’s kinda creepy, honestly. We’ll be having a lesson with some friends, and a good half hour later he's still just there on the grass outside, staring at the door, waiting for us. He’s a good man. If you ever end up reading this Scooter, you're an A+ amigo :)  - Walked with our friend to church last Sunday, a solid half hour to the church and we almost missed the meeting... But we made it in time, no sweat...

Elder Kenny Chalk’s 9 month mark! Week 39

  Me again! We had a great zone conference, and interviews with the President are coming up on Wednesday – should be amazing! Also, had variety of interesting experiences this week. - The Zone Conference was phenomenal. There was a big emphasis on what we as missionaries can do to consecrate ourselves to the Lord even before teaching or finding people. It was really thought-provoking. - We talked with a returned missionary who was going through some major personal trials and helped him arrange some things to get his life back on track. He played an epic rendition of the hymn "If You Could Hie to Kolob" – it was beautiful. - I went on divisions (splits) with Zone Leader Elder Eldridge. We ended up walking pretty much the entire night, but we ate bananas at the end, so it was worth it!    - I got a package from my family this week with some things from the States that I've really missed – Pringles, gum, clip-on tie (in honor of my Grandpa Stephen who served here) and things...

First letter from Argentina! 7/22/24

  Hola! Quite a bit happened in the past 7 days, I'll keep it quick haha! First and foremost, MTC is done, and I’m glad to be in the field! Good times all round, excepto for getting here... first a 9 hour Flight to Buenos Aires, with  a 4am  wake up, then once we got there, the leaders go "you got the same thing tonight!" I was so done haha! But yeah, got up  at 4am  again, and I still haven’t caught up on my sleep schedule! It was fun to meet President Walton! Such a nice man. He read my introduction paperwork and said- “I see you are a black belt, that’s good because this is a working mission!” 🙌 I also told him I won’t be a troublemaker.😂 Mom I’ll give him the Texas pasta noodles when I see him next week😂 I did meet up with my trainer, Élder Monson (not related to Thomas S.) and he's been showing me the ropes... He is amazing! We get along really well. He’s been out a year and 9 months, so only 3 months left to go… I will likely be his last companion befor...
