Transferred to Echesortu, Rosario! Kenny Week 37

Chao Venado Tuerto, y hola Echesortu! We busted out of the “One-Eyed Deer” and are here in Central Rosario now! Good times already, we have some crazy rich and crazy "villa" spots so close to each other. Good times!

- Said goodbye to Elder Nielson and hello to Elder Bunker! He’s from California, great guy and loves the work. We're getting along epically

- Not many people down here really want to learn English... Rosario is really heavy on the business and work side of things, so everyone is just busy all the time here haha

- The place we’re staying at here is pretty dang solid! Probably the nicest pensión in the Mission, very cool times. It’s still small and we really don't spend that much time in it so its not a big deal haha

- Divisions with Elder Eldridge the Zone Leader, super smart and super friendly guy

- Honestly that’s it! I’m the new District Leader here in Echesortu, so I keep the companionships here running at their highest efficiency and giving training where it’s needed - good stuff!
Have great week! Kenny

Reply from Uncle Christopher:

Dear Elder Chalk,

You were transferred to the big city!  I had to update my ‘mapo de Elder Chalk’ so I could better track your journeys (see below).

Are rich and villa spots opposites (like mansions and slums)?  When I hear villa I think of a big house with lots of land, but maybe I’m missing some slang.

I bet Elder Nielson was sad to see you go and that Elder Bunker was stoked you were his companion.  You’ve got a positive attitude for doing hard work.

Not surprising to hear that folks in the big city of Rosario aren’t motivated to learn English.  When I did my study abroad in Chile the businesses we visited said the same thing, that while career and wealth-building were priorities that people weren’t interested in duplicating the feel/rhythm of a New York, London, or Tokyo.  They wanted the South American version of those cities, hustle and bustle alongside balanced family/social life and pro-Spanish-language.

So glad you have a nice place to stay, coming home to a refuge at the end of a long day’s work is really nice.

And you’ve got a District to lead now, what a great opportunity to serve.  Learn what you can from the other missionaries and then see what you can add to it.

Photos of the week: self portrait of Elder Chalk (held by Elder Chalk), knick knacks on a shelf, that must be your new companion Elder Bunker with the double thumbs up surrounded by missionaries/friends, photo of your companionship with a big city skyline in the background, last photo of you and Elder Nielson (farewell friend), you and Elder Eldridge on exchanges, and some fun facts about Echesortu.

We love you, we support you, we’re on your team, take care of yourself, and keep your eyes open.
