Kenny week 25: Venado Tuerto 2.0

 

The transfer news came and went... Yah, nothing changing. I’m still here with Elder Price, and we’re rocking the area!

Hope life is epic back in the States, time is flying by here... we wake up in the morning, we are outside all day, and it feels like the blink of an eye when we lay down in bed to go to sleep, like "Hey, I just did this 5 seconds ago... " haha

- Went down to the farm of one of our friends here, he had a bunch of meat just hanging in his house... When we got to the farm he said "grab that bag." And we proceeded to shove a tiny pig while still alive inside it... Crazy stuff haha

- Asados with some other friends, they’re all mechanics so we eat in their shop. They’ve got some crazy cars here y'all, I’ve seen everything from Toyotas to random giant monster truck thingies, Venado Tuerto goes wild sometimes haha

- We were able to start talking to one of the inactive members here, and he said he had stopped coming because the last Elders had some kind of beef with him... Long story short, we got that all cleared up, and now we’re working with his son to help get him baptized in December! As we all learned from Shrek, miscommunications can really mess things up... so never assume anything!

- Awesome District Conference, all the churches in the branch met in our building and we got to hear from an Area Seventy (One of the leaders over all of South América in the church)! Great thoughts, phenomenal spirit, and President Walton (the mission president) also gave his thoughts there as well. Good times!

  Buen día todos! We’re still going strong out here-  Christmas and New years are this week. If y'all remember from the other email, we have certain rules on what times we have to be in the house and what times we can go out, so we'll be attentive to those, since the people really do get crazy on the holidays haha - There's this stray dog (we named him Scooter since he likes to scoot across the grass here) and he's been following us literally everywhere the past 4 days. Whenever he sees us, he just starts waggin his tail like crazy and doesn’t leave our side. It’s kinda creepy, honestly. We’ll be having a lesson with some friends, and a good half hour later he's still just there on the grass outside, staring at the door, waiting for us. He’s a good man. If you ever end up reading this Scooter, you're an A+ amigo :)  - Walked with our friend to church last Sunday, a solid half hour to the church and we almost missed the meeting... But we made it in time, no sweat...

Elder Kenny Chalk’s 9 month mark! Week 39

  Me again! We had a great zone conference, and interviews with the President are coming up on Wednesday – should be amazing! Also, had variety of interesting experiences this week. - The Zone Conference was phenomenal. There was a big emphasis on what we as missionaries can do to consecrate ourselves to the Lord even before teaching or finding people. It was really thought-provoking. - We talked with a returned missionary who was going through some major personal trials and helped him arrange some things to get his life back on track. He played an epic rendition of the hymn "If You Could Hie to Kolob" – it was beautiful. - I went on divisions (splits) with Zone Leader Elder Eldridge. We ended up walking pretty much the entire night, but we ate bananas at the end, so it was worth it!    - I got a package from my family this week with some things from the States that I've really missed – Pringles, gum, clip-on tie (in honor of my Grandpa Stephen who served here) and things...

First letter from Argentina! 7/22/24

  Hola! Quite a bit happened in the past 7 days, I'll keep it quick haha! First and foremost, MTC is done, and I’m glad to be in the field! Good times all round, excepto for getting here... first a 9 hour Flight to Buenos Aires, with  a 4am  wake up, then once we got there, the leaders go "you got the same thing tonight!" I was so done haha! But yeah, got up  at 4am  again, and I still haven’t caught up on my sleep schedule! It was fun to meet President Walton! Such a nice man. He read my introduction paperwork and said- “I see you are a black belt, that’s good because this is a working mission!” 🙌 I also told him I won’t be a troublemaker.😂 Mom I’ll give him the Texas pasta noodles when I see him next week😂 I did meet up with my trainer, Élder Monson (not related to Thomas S.) and he's been showing me the ropes... He is amazing! We get along really well. He’s been out a year and 9 months, so only 3 months left to go… I will likely be his last companion befor...
