Email #6: We can sleep when we’re dead
Week 4 in Argentina... I think
Great stuff! Belly hasn’t exploded from the food just yet! Although there's waaaay too much ice cream to go around... But I’m not complaining haha. Nothing crazy this week, we haven’t been able to do service projects since its been around 30 degrees in the morning the past few days... Then it gets up to 70 in the afternoon, and by then we’re in the Siesta and everyone's asleep... The timing is so greeeeaaaat!
Quick Lil’ recap:
- All the families here are amazing!
- I got to Baptize our friend Bautista, I think he'll enjoy making the decision
- We teach an English class every week, always a blast when people realize we speak Spanish and English haha
- “PelÃcula, Pochoclo, y Postres”- Movies, Popcorn, & Pastries! This weekend we’re hosting a Harry Potter movie night. But here’s the kicker… WE won’t be watching it because we’re missionaries! So we invited everyone in the town and we’ll set it up and then leave haha! We’ll be there but just not in the same room
- The Bishop’s wife made us "Gourmet Sandwiches" one afternoon... I swear that thing was having a PARTY in my mouth, it was so good
- Been doing practices as a companionship on how we want the flow of our lessons to go, we've ended up teaching so many random objects— an orange, soda bottle, chalk, a book… its hilarious
- We always talk with the district every week and practice teaching over video call since we can't talk in person anymore... All due to the lengthy bus rides to and from Cañada de Gomez (where the Sisters are)
- Trash crates: there aren’t really receptacles or dumpsters here, just a metal fenced crate suspended in the air by a pole where you put trash. So the town is fairly clean
- Sunday schedule: wake up, plan day, church meetings, eat lunch, more meetings, then visit people. The main difference in Sundays is having a long planning period. By the end of the night, I’m ready to fall into bed… we can sleep when we’re dead haha
Thanks for your emails, messages and prayers!
~Kenny
