Email #5: The People here are so filled with love

Week 3 in Argentina, man these go by fast! Yeah who would have thought... the weeks are actually flying by. The days just kind of blur together haha!

Anyway, we had a fun time this week with some "Intercambios" and I got to hang out with Élder Toone, great man. His teaching style is pretty sick! Trying to take bits and pieces on the journey to learning Spanish haha

Nothing crazy happened, don't worry mamá. Just Zone Conference, and even then, we got free lunch so I’m good over here haha! Zone conference in Rosario was pretty great— All in Spanish. We talked about the “preach my gospel train”: you’re either on it or you’re not. Meaning you’re WITH furthering the work or not.

Rapid Fire recap:

- It’s our goal to eat at every Tienda de Helado acá

- Am speaking Castillano pretty decently. If I can hear the actual words people say, I can respond but their accents are the hardest thing I’ve ever encountered

- Weather keeps going from 90 degrees to 40 and my sinuses hate it haha

- The People here are so filled with love, and are so content with the little they have, it’s changed how I have viewed and how I will view life forever

- Well... They still eat like there’s no tomorrow... I finish one plate of food thinking that’s everything and they go "Oh just kidding that was part one of a SIXTEEN THOUSAND PART MEAL"

- Yeah... The food is hardest part of the mission if I’m being honest haha (kidding) (kind of) Meaning the food is so great but there’s alot of it

- We have a Brother in our ward named Nino, one day we were cleaning his car for a service project... After the car, we went to his backyard to help him digo a Hole and put "basura" in it... The moment my companion and I heard we'd be putting trash in a hole in the ground, we started laughing our heads off... Then it turned out he wanted to just put rocks in the hole... So the entire thing was pretty much a character building experience because we really didn't build anything else there haha

-mamá, my 6 Picaridin bug spray cans were taken out of my suitcase in transit to Argentina - I just hope they need it more than I do

-Every now and then people give us “taper-wares” to hold food or stuff. These are so sacred among people. As in, if you don’t return their beloved taper they won’t talk to you again! If you ever want to have their trust ever again you return their tapers!

-Ward conference is coming up, we may sing on Aug 18… but this isn’t really a singing mission haha

-I love the way President Walton sees everything. It’s all black-and-white. Pretty much you’re either working or you’re not- I love it. 5 big standards here:

1. High expectations and great love

2. Being obedient disciples of Christ

3. Work with members

4. Lesson #3 PMG: doctrine of Christ

5. Use the Book of Mormon!
