Adios Echesortu, hola Alberdi! Kenny’s week 43

Image
You've probably noticed this email came earlier... Pday has been switched around to Saturday now since I’m serving as the new Secretary to the Mission President! It is a fixed time, so I will be here for six months. Transfers came and went, and now we’re in a place called Alberdi! About 10 minutes south of Echesortu, but pretty close nearby.  As the secretary, I am in charge of keeping everyone legal in the country, and organizing all the travels/expenses of the missionaries, from taking taxis on divisions (splits) to riding in buses to zone conference or leadership meetings, it all goes through and is organized by the secretary. I also coordinate interview schedules,  answer all the emails coming into the mission, and I am about to get my international drivers license so I can help provide logistical support for events. This past week we took chairs and tables from one building to another to set up for a meeting, things like that. I’m also the tech troubleshooter— fixi...

Car fire & lasagna! Elder Chalk’s week 42

Image
Hey yall! Nothing too new to report in the field.  - Fun divisiones with the Zone Leaders, some fun mirror pics with Elder Dotson! - Did some home repairs in our kitchen, had a friend come over and help fix our stove — it was JANKY but it’s all good now!  - Made a Lasagna with Elder Bunker, turned out fetchin’ delicious :)  - Saw a car on fire, we got away from that thing pretty fasts since it kept on making these suspicious noises like it was about to blow... The joys of Argentina haha - Funnily enough, that’s about it this week... Not really any other highlights! Hope yall keep on keeping on!  ~ Élder Chalk PS. I recorded another hymn - this one is 3-part harmony!  https://youtu.be/flsZBcJZILY?si=yfNn1-imiuU5EXCu

“Just a little pipe explosion” Elder Kenny Chalk week 41

Image
Hey everyone! Hope life is going well and the Texas snow season passed without any harm, haha! Down here in Argentina, we’re just enjoying the weather that keeps going all over the place... One day you need a sweater, the next day you wish you could be in a swimsuit, etc. But hey, that’s weather here in South America for ya! - We did some divisions (splits) with the Zone Leaders again, and there was a pipe that exploded at a gas station and an ammonia leak. We were right across the road when it went down, so we got to run home with spicy air every where... It was such a dad story haha No one got hurt, I’m not physically endangered, don’t worry mama - Found these cool Pringles ripoffs. They’re pretty epic, not gonna lie. Taste somewhat the same as the originals, so I’m not complaining :) - Taught English Class again, always a blast! - Fun time going to a member’s home and seeing an industrial paper towel dispense in their bathroom... What on earth haha - We had McDonald’s food “Do...

Kenny’s week 40: Weather is cooling down!

Image
Happy Monday yall! Nothing much to report here in the field. More walking than normal, since we missed some buses, but hey we’re already accustomed to the nonsense. - Divisiones with Elder Eldridge again, met some fun families, and after everything, some friends we visited offered to drive us back home since it was about a 50 minute walk to the house from where we were- we definitely took them up on that haha  - Had a recent convert of ours go walk and visit friends with us, he had a super cute dog, so that was a big plus - Interviews with the President went down smoothly, he’s so spiritually mature, its crazy to hear his insights on our area and about us as a companionship The weather is starting to cool down just a little, so things are looking up here as of right now haha! Hope life continues being epic for yall!  ~Kenny

Elder Kenny Chalk’s 9 month mark! Week 39

Me again! We had a great zone conference, and interviews with the President are coming up on Wednesday – should be amazing! Also, had variety of interesting experiences this week. - The Zone Conference was phenomenal. There was a big emphasis on what we as missionaries can do to consecrate ourselves to the Lord even before teaching or finding people. It was really thought-provoking. - We talked with a returned missionary who was going through some major personal trials and helped him arrange some things to get his life back on track. He played an epic rendition of the hymn "If You Could Hie to Kolob" – it was beautiful. - I went on divisions (splits) with Zone Leader Elder Eldridge. We ended up walking pretty much the entire night, but we ate bananas at the end, so it was worth it!    - I got a package from my family this week with some things from the States that I've really missed – Pringles, gum, clip-on tie (in honor of my Grandpa Stephen who served here) and things...
