Kenny’s Week 17: All is well!

Image
Yet another week gone by, only a few 90 something more of these emails, I'm not certain haha All is well! The weather is fluctuating like crazy, it started at mid 80s on Monday, then jumped to around 100 yesterday, and now its back to around 90... nothing makes sense here haha - Had an epic service project, our friend Nazareno was literally pulling branches off the trees we needed to remove with his bare hands ... I don't want to be on his bad side :) - Had a fun English class, as per the norm - Oh this was actually really interesting... Let me take you back to Saturday night.  Approximately 9:30PM. Elder Monson and I just got back home after a solid day of work. Elder Monson finished writing his talk for church on Sunday, all is calm as we report the day.  *RING RING...*  We get a message from the bishop. Apparently one of the members that was giving the talk the next day couldn't make it, so he goes: "Elder Chalk we're gonna need you to giv...

Howdy from Argentina again haha (Kenny’s week 16)

Another solid week out in the field! Had our interviews with the Mission President, I got to Baptize another one of our friends, and of course, it’s starting to get a little hot haha! Funny thing is — the Texas heat has prepared me through my childhood, so this should be a fun refresher...  - I’m nearing the end of training, Spanish is pretty much down on the speaking end, just the understanding the accents is pretty dang rough - Baptized our friend Norma, she’s had a rough life but was so excited as she started this New journey with Christ! - Sang a duet with Elder Monson in sacrament meeting, always a fun time... Sang "Sublime Gracia" or Amazing Grace, one of the hymns the church recently added to our hymnal  - We had a visit from a nice senior missionary couple to check out our apartment— we’re without any issues as of right now haha  - Most of the missionaries in our district are heading home after this transfer except my trainer, its kinda sad to see all the fun ones...

Elder Chalk week 15: “Si Dios quiere”

Great week again haha!  Zone conference came and went, I sang "How Great Thou Art" for everyone, they all seemed to enjoy it! Always focusing on the principle of obedience at those meetings… never a dull moment! Sorry I didn't record the song mama :(  But here’s our practice- And the week recap: - Taught English class, a bunch of little kids have started to show up and now its crazy because they run around but we still get an hour of teaching in haha - Baptized Nazareno this past Sunday, love that man! He's always sending us random pictures and funny stuff throughout the week! - Hosted a family night with a bunch of friends, we were playing games and everyone got so competitive since food was on the line for the victor haha - Elder Monson: HE’S ABSOLUTELY THE BEST. He never is distracted from the work - Activities: If we don’t plan it, it doesn’t happen- very different from back home - “Si Dios quiere” - (if God wills it) people just say it a lot  - Always good food -...

Kenny’s week 14: "Extraterrestres"

Image
Great week out here in Argentina! To be frank, there isn’t too much craziness that goes on here, we just go out, teach, and do service every day haha! Very busy this week, though... Here's a lil highlight reel: - Helped sand down the wall at our friend's house so he could repaint, he owns a ranch and we got to hang out with a bunch of animals... We now refer to his goats as the "Extraterrestres" not really certain why haha - Yeah, food. Still a thing... And there's a lot of it... And it's all really good... Don't know if I'll be able to readjust to the states after the next two years haha - We got to Baptize another friend this week, Elías, I got to be the one to baptize him! Always a fun time, very Spirit filled experience. - We’re to the point in my Spanish where I can respond without any issue on the contingency I understand what someone says...  The accents here really are the worst haha - Got to give a talk in church this last Sunday, it was fir...
